1. Acceptance of Terms

Cottage Rules is operated by ROBERTSON INNOVATION GROUP. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Cottage Rules (the "Service"). By creating an account, purchasing a plan or gift product, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction and have the legal capacity to enter into a contract to create a Cottage Rules account. You are responsible for providing accurate information, safeguarding your credentials, and all activity that occurs through your account.

Guests may be able to view shared guides without creating an account.

3. Description of the Service

Cottage Rules helps cottage and vacation property owners organize and share guest instructions, maintenance information, seasonal tasks, appliance records, reservations, documents, photos, videos, and other property-related information. Certain plans may include AI-assisted writing, document import, image or note extraction, advanced management tools, and other premium features.

Features may change, improve, be replaced, or be discontinued over time. We may impose reasonable usage or storage limits where necessary to operate the Service.

4. Plans, Payments, Renewals, and Gift Products

4.1 Lite and Pro Plans. Current plan features, limits, and pricing are shown on the Cottage Rules website or in the Service.

4.2 Paid Subscriptions. Unless otherwise stated at checkout, recurring Pro subscriptions are billed in advance in Canadian dollars and automatically renew for the applicable billing period until cancelled.

4.3 Cancellation. You may cancel a recurring subscription through the available subscription-management tools. Unless required by law or stated otherwise, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.

4.4 Refunds. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated in a specific offer or checkout flow.

4.5 Taxes. Applicable taxes may be added where required.

4.6 Founders Club and Lifetime Access. If you purchase an offer described as lifetime access, "lifetime" means access to the applicable Cottage Rules plan for as long as Cottage Rules continues to operate and make that plan or a substantially similar service available, subject to these Terms. Lifetime access does not guarantee perpetual operation of the company, every future feature, or unlimited usage beyond reasonable product limits.

4.7 Gift Cards and Gift Subscriptions. Gift products are subject to the description shown at purchase, including the included subscription period, redemption requirements, transfer restrictions, and any expiry terms permitted by law. Gift purchases are not redeemable for cash except where required by law.

4.8 Payment Processor. Payments are processed by Stripe or another payment provider. Your use of payment services may also be subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create or upload to Cottage Rules ("User Content"). You grant Cottage Rules and its service providers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, reproduce, display, transmit, and otherwise use User Content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the Service and to carry out actions you request.

You are responsible for your User Content and represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to upload, store, process, and share it. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or that improperly discloses another person's private information.

6. Shared Guides and Guest Access

Cottage Rules allows owners to share information through links or QR codes. Anyone who receives a valid link may be able to view the information made available through it, and recipients may forward the link to others. You are responsible for choosing what information to publish and for avoiding sensitive details that should not be broadly accessible, such as alarm codes, passwords, financial information, or unnecessary personal information.

7. Artificial Intelligence Features

AI-assisted features may rewrite, summarize, extract, classify, or generate content based on information you submit. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unsuitable for your particular cottage, equipment, or situation.

You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated or AI-extracted content before saving, publishing, sharing, or relying on it. Cottage Rules does not guarantee the accuracy of AI output.

8. Property, Maintenance, Safety, and Emergency Information

Cottage Rules is a documentation and information-sharing tool. It is not a substitute for professional mechanical, electrical, plumbing, septic, fire, boating, building, environmental, legal, medical, or other professional advice or services.

Owners are responsible for ensuring their instructions are accurate, current, safe, and appropriate for their property and equipment. Users should follow manufacturer instructions, applicable laws and codes, qualified professionals, local authorities, and emergency services where appropriate. Do not rely on Cottage Rules for emergency response.

9. Prohibited Uses

You must not:

• Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activity
• Upload content that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
• Attempt to bypass security controls or gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data
• Introduce malware or interfere with the availability or integrity of the Service
• Use automated systems to scrape or access the Service in a manner we have not authorized
• Resell or commercially exploit access to the Service except under a written agreement with Cottage Rules

10. Cottage Rules Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, templates, features, and original content other than User Content, is owned by or licensed to Cottage Rules and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Cottage Rules intellectual property to you.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service may rely on or link to third-party services, including hosting, AI, payment, email, storage, weather, maps, or other technology providers. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control, and their own terms and privacy policies may apply.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, or accuracy.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cottage Rules will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, use, data, or business opportunity arising from or related to the Service.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under applicable law.

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Cottage Rules harmless from third-party claims, losses, or reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the Service, your User Content, your violation of another person's rights, or your material breach of these Terms.

15. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary for security, non-payment, abuse, unlawful activity, or a material breach of these Terms. Where practical and appropriate, we will provide notice before termination.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity, will continue to apply.

16. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms as Cottage Rules evolves. If we make a material change to these Terms, we may provide notice by email, through the Service, or by another reasonable method. The updated Terms will apply from the stated effective date.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights that apply in your jurisdiction.
